Admission to the Urban Leadership Program is competitive. Decisions
regarding admission are based on review of a written application, as
well as an interview with the Urban Leadership Director and a member
of the Program. The committee evaluates candidates on the basis of
commitment to leadership-related study, the desire for leadership
understanding and application, extra-curricular participation,
academic record and other experience. Successful applicants are
notified following the interview process.
Applicants must be full-time Oglethorpe students with a 2.8 GPA to
qualify for admission to the Urban Leadership Program. Freshmen may
apply with acceptance provisional pending Fall GPA results.
Applicants to the Program should be willing to undertake the four
component courses including the issue-oriented internship connected
to the Community Issues Forum in order to qualify for the
Certificate in Urban Leadership upon graduation. Other requirements
include completion of a Leadership Portfolio and submission of a
paper each semester relating the student’s experience as a Leader in
Action.
