Right of Privacy

In general, individual students accused of violations of University policy have a right to privacy in disciplinary matters. In compliance with The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 no personally identifiable information from a student's educational records can be released without the signed and dated, prior written consent of the parent or student. There are a number of legal exceptions to this prior consent provision that are outlined in the FERPA, 34 C.F.R. Part 99 Subpart D, section 99.31. Contact the Campus Life office or consult http://www.lrp.com/ed/freelib/free_regs/bc3499.htm for more information.
