Setting Up Student Email on Your Phone

If you have a windows mobile phone/device or a phone/device that supports Exchange ActiveSync, yOUr email account comes with very good mobile support. Most iPhones, Android Phones and Windows Mobile phones support Activesync.
To set up your mobile phone to access your e-mail using Exchange ActiveSync, you'll need the Exchange ActiveSync server name as well as your user name and password. Your user name is your e-mail address, for example jcool@oglethorpe.edu. The Exchange ActiveSync server name is m.outlook.com. Your domain name is oglethorpe.
If you are updating your settings be sure to change the password to the new one you set in OASIS.

 


Instructions on setting up an iPhone:

Click on "Settings"
Click on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Click on "Add Account..."

Click on "Microsoft Exchange"

In the email address enter your email address.
For the domain enter oglethorpe.
In the Username field enter your full email address
In the password field enter your password you set in OASIS.

It will try and auto discover your account. You will see the following screen. Click "Continue"

In the next screen enter the server name: m.outlook.com

Next turn on and off the functions you would like to see on your phone and then click "Save"


Instructions on setting up an Android Phone:

From the home screen, choose "Menu", then "Settings", "Accounts & sync", then click "Add Account"
You will see Corporate or Exchange ActiveSync option (depending on your device and version) and select it.

On the next screens type in your e-mail address (username@oglethorpe.edu) and password
Then under server settings, the your username must be in this format: username@oglethorpe.edu
the server should be set to m.outlook.com or use pod51008.outlook.com if the device fails to connect using m.outlook.com.
Check use secure connection (SSL) and Accept all SSL certificates.

Once your device has confirmed connectivity to the mail server, you will be asked email checking frequency, amount to synchronize, option to send from this account be default, and if you want to sync contacts and calendar from this account. The default options will be selected.

Once you save the settings your e-mail will start syncing. And you will be asked to give this account a name. It is whatever you want to name it. Then click done.
