  Hailey Bowers

Hi, my name is Hailey Bowers. I am from Charleston, South Carolina. Currently I am a psychology major here at Oglethorpe. After Oglethorpe I hope to further my education by going to law school. I came to Oglethorpe because I did not want to follow the same path as everyone else I knew. I wanted somewhere new and different, and Oglethorpe was it! I have the joy of playing on the tennis team, being part of the Chi Omega fraternity, and being a student ambassador here on campus.

Fun Fact: I work on the plantation where The Notebook was filmed and where Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were married.

  Emily Christian

Hello everyone! My name is Emily Christian. I am from Nashville, Tennessee.  In high I was an event leader for the Mayor’s Youth Council, where I gained a passion for non-profits and community growth. I am currently a sophomore majoring in Human Behavior and Human Resource Management and minoring in Non-Profit Management. I plan to work in a non-profit that focuses on empowering young girls.

I chose Oglethorpe University because I passionately believed in its mission of creating a learning experience that is not solely based in the classroom, and because of its focus on creating citizens of the world. I love being able to walk around campus and know the people I am passing on my way. My fun fact is that I worked as a camp counselor in Brevard, NC, for 11 weeks this summer.

Johann Hassanally Hi everyone! My name is Johann Hassanally. I am from Newnan, GA. I have created my own path at Oglethorpe that will prepare me for nursing school. My major is psychology. However, I complete any prerequisites that I need to obtain a nursing degree. This will be my junior year. I am very active on campus. I work for the Admissions Office, Residence Life as a resident assistant, and the Theater as a website chief. I played soccer and lacrosse my freshman year. I am also a brother of the Chi Phi Fraternity. As well as campus activities, I am also off campus as a local soccer referee. Being active on campus is very important to me. I had the privilege of studying abroad to Cuba with my fellow classmates and excellent professors.
  Kirsten Glaeser

Hello, my name is Kirsten Glaeser. I’m from Miami, FL, and I am a sociology major. I plan on continuing my education and going to graduate school after I graduate in the spring. I recently came back from studying abroad in England, which is one of the many things I love about Oglethorpe; its such a small yet diverse campus that has activities for all. The new Campus Center is also a bonus. A cool, fun fact: when I was younger, I once rode an elephant!

Ali Keeter I’m Ali Keeter and I am an admissions operations assistant worker.  I was born and raised in Dallas, TX and am currently studying Psychology and Theater at Oglethorpe.  I came to Oglethorpe after falling in love with the city of Atlanta, Oglethorpe’s theater program and the campus itself.  I am a member of several organizations on campus, including the sorority Tri Sigma, Outlet and the theater department. The majority of the time you can see me with my sisters, working hard for OU Theater, knitting or watching movies.  I’ve come to love everything about Oglethorpe from the classes, professors, students and admissions team.
  Dona Kioseff

Hi, my name is Dona Kioseff and I am a junior at Oglethorpe.  I’m from Valdosta, GA and found out about OU through athletics.  Once I visited and interacted with students and staff, I knew this was where I wanted to spend my next four years.  I am biology major and history minor, with a focus in pre-medicine.  I am member of Greek Life, a cross country runner, an orientation leader, and president of Phi Delta Epsilon medical fraternity on campus.  I enjoy running, golfing, science, history and spending time with my rabbit, Paula.

Sam Lyon Hi! My name is Samuel Lyon! I grew up in Tampa, FL, but went to high school in North Georgia before moving to Atlanta. I am a sophomore Communications and Rhetoric Studies Major, with a Spanish minor. On campus, I am an Orientation Leader, Student Ambassador, an SGA senator and Honor Council Member. I am also a brother in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. My interests are reading, drinking tea, growing cacti, and volunteering. I chose Oglethorpe because of its beautiful Gothic style, wonderful professors, and Core program.
  Christian Locklayer

Hi, my name is Christian Locklayer. I am from McDonough, GA, and I transferred to Oglethorpe University in the fall of 2011. I love how Oglethorpe allows students access to become leaders on campus, producing an overall well-rounded student body. There are always "those students" who you know are involved in fifty different activities, make the Dean’s List every semester, and they still manage to have a social life. I believe that Oglethorpe is where students come to thrive.

My major is Studio Art with a concentration in Film and Photography, and I have a minor in Communications and Rhetoric Studies. In addition to being a Senior Interviewer, I am actively involved with the Center for Civic Engagement. I am also a Peer Academic Leader (P.A.L.), on the Student Judicial Board, and the Vice President of Thaakat. My future plans include becoming a screen writer for a multi-million dollar movie.

Paulette Matute Hi, my name is Paolette Matute. My major is Biology. I am from Atlanta, GA, but I was originally born in Mexico. I chose OU because of its small size, prime location, and all of the opportunities it offers, such as its great connections, internships, and its study abroad program. My future plans are to go to medical school and specialize in pediatrics. A fun fact about myself would be my ability to say the ABC’s backwards, in under 10 seconds!
  Danny Patton

Hi my name is Danny Patton, and I graduated from Onteora High School in Woodstock, NY.  My major is international relations with a minor in Spanish.  In my spare time I enjoy being active by playing sports such as soccer and football.  I have plans to study abroad in Brazil next fall because I am originally from Rio de Janeiro and I want to strengthen my Portuguese.

Corey Ray Hey y’all. My name is Corey Ray and I am a junior majoring in International Studies. I was born in Pearl, Mississippi and graduated from an International Baccalaureate high school in Columbus, GA. I am the President of the Chi Phi Fraternity and I enjoy exploring Atlanta on the weekends. I’ve been to Guatemala through an Alternative Spring Break with the Oglethorpe Center for Civic Engagement and to Cuba through a Spanish course. I chose Oglethorpe due to the Core program, the beautiful Atlanta campus, and the close-knit community.
  Ruwa Romman

Hey y’all! My name is Ruwa Romman. I’m originally from Amman, Jordan, but moved to Georgia when I was eight years old. I am currently a junior here at Oglethorpe studying English and politics. I chose Oglethorpe because it was the perfect fit for me. The small class sizes and the direct interaction with professors really piqued my interest.  What really brought me here, however, was the community. Everyone knows everyone, and the diversity is amazing. I have two more years to figure out what I want to do, but I am leaning towards law school.

Kate Siess Studying abroad during the fall 2013 semester!
  Lukas Strasser

Hi! My name is Lukas. I was born and raised in Europe. After going to an Austrian college for one year, I was supposed to go to Oglethorpe for only one semester but during the first month I realized how much I like it here, and decided to get my degree here. I am majoring in business and economics, and I am also doing many other things on campus. Besides my job as a Senior Interviewer, I am President of Chi Phi, on the Student Government Association, and several other organizations, clubs, and task forces. I am currently applying to several grad schools, and since I would love to stay here in the South, Duke and Emory are my top choices.

Robbie Wilbanks Well hello there!  My name is Robbie Wilbanks and I’m from Warner Robbins, GA.  I am on of only a handful of Philosophy majors here at Oglethorpe and a sophomore this year.  In addition to this I’m also a brother of the Chi Phi fraternity and serve as President of the Thalian society, Oglethorpe’s oldest student organization.  I play several instruments including guitar and saxophone and enjoy making my own original compositions and songs.  I spend quite a bit of my time sipping coffee at the Goodman Café.  Someday I would like to study abroad in Iceland.  I’ve wanted to work for the Office of Admission because it is the perfect way to share my love of Oglethorpe with others.  The tours I took at Oglethorpe were and important factor in my decision to come here, which ended up being the best decision I’ve ever made.
Derek Wolter Hi, my name is Derek Wolter, and I am from Peachtree City, GA, about 45 minutes south of Atlanta. I originally heard about Oglethorpe through an email they sent out offering a free application and a quick response time, so I figure it couldn’t hurt to apply. I was accepted, and after receiving a tour of the campus and participating in Scholarship Weekend, I fell in love with the school, and haven’t once regretted my decision to attend. I am currently pursuing a triple major in Philosophy, Psychology, and Spanish. One of the main reasons (and there are so many) why I chose Oglethorpe was the amount of academic freedom and independence given to the students, as well as the wide variety of academic pursuits. I plan on attending graduate school, and pursuing an advanced degree in psychology or philosophy in order to become either a professor of philosophy, or a practicing psychologist. One interesting thing about me is that I play electric and acoustic guitar.
  Shiraz Wright-Hulett

Hey, my name is Shiraz Wright-Hulett. I’m from right here in Atlanta, and I’m studying politics. I chose Oglethorpe because of the amazing study abroad opportunities that are offered here. Trips can be as short as two weeks to up to one year, and our partner institutions across the globe help make it affordable for students. I plan to go abroad next year, and pursue graduate school after graduation.

  Chris Yalen

Hey y’all, my name is Corey Ray. I was born in Pearl, Mississippi and raised in Georgia. I’m a Senior majoring in international Studies. I chose Oglethorpe for its Core Program, and its great connection to the IB Program. I am a brother of the Chi Phi Fraternity and I studied abroad at our partner school in Istanbul, Turkey. I plan to go to graduate school and work on shaping American foreign policy.

  Tiffany Ziminiak

Hi my name is Tiffany Ziminiak. I am a senior psychology major and a German minor. I am from Cumming, GA, and I graduated from South Forsyth High School. I chose Oglethorpe because the Core program made it stand out from every other school I was interested in. When I came to visit I knew I had to go to Oglethorpe because of how friendly and personal everyone was and how amazing the campus looked. I am looking at graduate schools , but I am still undecided about the direction I would like to go in. I would either like to attend a program for pharmacy, public health, or behavioral neuroscience. A fun fact about me is that my favorite things on campus are the two gingko trees located on the quad!
