I was about two and a half when I first stepped foot on campus, and little did I know then that 17 years later, I would return as a Petrel myself. My sister graduated from Oglethorpe in 1996, and it always held a special place in my heart because going to Oglethorpe meant going to see my big sister. But by the time I had begun my college search, I had forgotten about the beautiful place and ended up attending the University of Central Florida in Orlando. It wasn’t the fit for me, and within a semester I was ready to transfer; I asked myself what I had expected and my honest answer was I had expected Oglethorpe. So I returned to the neo-gothic campus in 2008 as a Petrel and graduated in 2012. In that time period, I majored in International Studies with a minor in Economics, joined a sorority, studied abroad at a partner institution for a year, worked in the Office of Admission, was a Civic Engagement Ambassador, and successfully completed the Honors Program. I truly enjoyed my time at Oglethorpe, so when the opportunity arose for me to return to the admission office, I took it without hesitation.

Favorite spot on campus: The second-floor study room of the Philip Weltner Library.
Favorite OU tradition: Boar’s Head Ceremony.
Favorite OU trivia: The Oglethorpe Crypt of Civilization is a modern time capsule in the basement of Phoebe Hearst Hall that was sealed in 1940 and will not be opened until 8113 A.D. and was created to provide an “encyclopedic inventory of life and customs from ancient times through the middle of the 20th century.”
Favorite Atlanta spot: Piedmont Park.
Favorite novel: Into the Whirlwind by Eugenia Ginzburg.
Most interesting place I’ve been: Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland.
