Special Status Admission is designed for students who wish to take a limited number of post-baccalaureate classes at Oglethorpe, or for non-traditional students who desire to begin college course work prior to being admitted to a degree-seeking program.

Students may be admitted to Oglethorpe's undergraduate day program as a special status candidate if they meet one of the following criteria:
  1. They are at least 25 years of age and at least five years removed from their last educational experience.
  2. They have graduated from another accredited college or university.

Under the program, students may enroll for a maximum of 16 semester hours. Individuals desiring to enroll for additional courses must apply as regular, degree-seeking candidates.

To apply for Special Status Admission, students must complete the special status application and submit proof of their last educational experience or a copy of their college diploma along with a $35 application fee.  (Note:  Students interested in the Evening Degree program can find additional admission information here.)

Special status students are not eligible for financial assistance.
