Mariya Marvakova '12

I am originally from Bulgaria (my home town is Plovdiv). I fell in love with Oglethorpe University the minute I stepped on campus all these years ago. During my time at OU, I volunteered for numerous events, interned in University Communications for two semesters, and served as the unofficial campus event photographer.

While pursuing my studies at OU, I ventured out to explore several interesting areas of communications. I was a Stage Manager for a theater production company in Atlanta for 2 years and served as an Assistant Director of the same production company for a year. I was also a Programming Manager for Kollaboration Atlanta 3, and I completed internships in Public Relations, Marketing, and Social Media Marketing with businesses located in the Oglethorpe area.

I love Oglethorpe and am excited to spend some extra time on our beautiful campus as a staff member. I joined the Office of Admission team just a week after graduation, and I'm looking forward to helping OU’s many future Petrels.

Favorite OU tradition: Petrels of Fire race on Oglethorpe Day.
Favorite Atlanta spot: Running trails along the Chattahoochee River.
