Performance: Play
Director:
Jessie Dougherty Dean ’03.

Plot: Play is Becket’s minimalist, poetic No Exit as a man, his wife and mistress ruminating on marriage, meaning and tricks of memory from burial urns center front.

Cost: $7; $5 for seniors and students; free to the Oglethorpe community with ID. For tickets call 404.504.1074.

More Info: Play represents collaboration with Oglethorpe alumni, a trend Merola hopes to continue. In addition to the alumna director, the production features Gabriel Dean ’03, a rising playwright at Actor’s Express, playing the lead.

Dr. Merola goes on to say, "Play is a rehashing of the events in three people’s lives, while Still Life’s (see below) three characters are confessing to the audience."

"Still Life"

Performance: Still Life by Emily Mann
Director: Deborah Merola

Cost: $7; $5 for seniors and students; free to the Oglethorpe community with ID. For tickets call 404.504.1074.

More Info: Still Life, directed by Theatre Director Deborah Merola, explores the after-effects of war and love between a Vietnam veteran and his wife.

The combination of Play (see above) and Still Life makes sense to Merola, who notes that “a triangle of characters is found in each production, the staging is very similar and the female characters are competing in both.” She goes on to say, “Play is a rehashing of the events in three people’s lives, while Still Life’s three characters are confessing to the audience
