Theatre at OU

• Sept. 24, 25, and 26, 2009 8:00 PM Conant Center for the Performing Arts
  OU Theatre Department  presents "Museum" by Tina Howe directed by Prof. Lee Knippenberg

  A passionate and thoroughly personal play about the whole world, Museum takes place on the final day of a group show being exhibited in a major museum of modern art. During the course of the day some forty people walk through the show: art lovers, skeptics, foreigners, students, lost souls, fellow artists and, of course, museum guards. Their reactions to the art on display and their interactions with each other make this "slice of life" comedy a true parable of humanity. The N.Y. Times calls Museum "a comedy of absurdities with a serious message."

  Alpha Psi Omega, National Theatre Honorary presents Aeschylus,  The Choephori (The Libation Bearers)—directed by Dusty Brown, ‘10

  In the palace of Argos, Clytemnestra is roused from slumber by a nightmare: that she gave birth to a snake, and the snake draws blood from her breast. Alarmed, she orders her daughter, Electra, to make an offering to her murdered husband. When Electra arrives at the grave, she is met by a man. As they speak, it becomes apparent that the man is her brother Orestes, her only hope of revenge. Orestes believes that he is the snake in his mother's dream, so together with Electra they plan to avenge their father by killing their mother Clytemnestra and her new husband, Aegisthus.

  John Guare, House of Blue Leaves—directed by Pete Cutter

  Set in Sunnyside, Queens in 1965 on the day that Pope Paul VI visited NYC, this black comedy features nuns, a political bombing, a GI headed for Vietnam, a zookeeper who dreams of making it big in Hollywood as a songwriter, and his wife, Bananas, a schizophrenic destined for the . . .that House of Blue Leaves.  It’s a wild ride!

  Rehearsal Room C  presents The Reduced Shakespeare Company’s “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)”—directed by Aly Calder, ‘10
  
  A cheeky, fast-paced romp through the Bard's 37 plays (and 154 sonnets) performed by only THREE actors.

  Warning!: This show is a high-speed roller-coaster type condensation of all of Shakespeare's plays, and is not recommended for people with heart ailments, bladder problems, inner-ear disorders and/or people inclined to motion sickness.

  OU Theatre  presents Shakespeare, Twelfth Night—directed by Allen O’Reilly, Georgia Shakespeare Associate Artist and Education Director

  One of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, Twelfth Night explores a variety of human desires from the basic food, drink, sex, and revenge to justice and love.
