Head Coach Ron Sattele

After two years as an assistant coach at Oglethorpe University, Ron Sattele assumed the head coaching responsibilities in 2004-2005 and the program has been on the rise ever since. After getting battle-tested in this inaugural season en route to a 9-16 overall record, the women's program posted consecutive record-breaking win seasons in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007. During the 2005-2006 campaign, Sattele guided the Lady Petrels to a 21-7 overall record and the school's first trip to the NCAA Tournament. In 2006-2007, the Petrels repeated the NCAA-worthy performance in compiling a 21-8 record (11-3 in conference) while rising all the way to second overall in the SCAC. In three complete seasons, Sattele has run his head coaching record to an impressive 51-31.

Sattele came to Oglethorpe from St. Pius X High School in Atlanta, where he coached women's basketball. As head coach for the last three years of his tenure, the St. Pius X Golden Lions accumulated a 71 - 16 record with two sub-region championships, one region championship, one sweet sixteen and one final eight appearance in the AAAA State Tournament. The 2001-02 squad assembled the best record in the history of the school finishing 28-4 and fifth in the state.

Coach Sattele follows a philosophy of dedication, hard work and a touch of fun in whatever he does. He is a graduate of Villanova University and is married with four children and 10 grandchildren.

Assistant Coach Liz Campbell

Liz Campbell is entering her fifth year as assistant coach with the Lady Petrels. She shares the recruiting and coaching responsibilities along with managing the day to day basketball operations. Along with her coaching responsibilities Liz also serves as Assistant Athletic Director for Administration, Senior Women's Administrator and advisor to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Campbell graduated cum laude from Oglethorpe in 2001 with a degree is history and a teaching certificate. While at Oglethorpe she made the SCAC honor roll all four years, was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma-an athletic honor society-and received the Stormiest Petrel Award. She was the recruitment director for Chi Omega and the President of Order of Omega. In 2004 Liz completed her masters degree in Sports Administration at Georgia State University and hopes to pursue a career in college athletics.

Assistant Coach Cindy Vaios

Coach Cindy Vaios joins the staff this season to pursue her passion in basketball. Vaios was a four year starter at Dartmouth College. She was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year and went on to win three Ivy League Championships. Cindy will focus her attention on individual player development.

Along with her basketball playing experience, Cindy is an LPGA teaching and club professional member. She has spent the last fifteen years teaching individual lessons and running clinics. In addition to the work with the basketball team, Cindy is the Assistant Head Coach of the women's golf team at Oglethorpe.

Assistant Coach Ashley Sharpton

Coach Ashley Sharpton joins the Stormy Petrel staff after spending a year on the staff at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Sharpton will assist in on-court instruction and player development. She will be actively involved in recruiting, scouting and film exchange.Ashley brings Division I experience and a tremendous passion for the game to the program.

Sharpton began her career as an Big South All-Rookie Team honoree at University of North Carolina - Asheville before transferring to the University of Massachusetts. She was a three year letter-winner at U. Mass as a legitimate scorer from long-range.

At Newton County High School she earned four letters in basketball and was an All-Area selection in addition to winning the AAU state championships in 2000 and 2001.
