Erb's 2005 Season a Success on the Hooter's Tour

The 2005 NGA Hooters Tour season can be summed up for Oglethorpe University alumnus Trent Erb as successful. After graduating from Oglethorpe University in 2004 with a decorated golf career playing for the Stormy Petrels, Erb joined the NGA Hooters Tour in August in hopes of pursuing a professional golf career. Erb, a two time All American and two time SCAC Player of the Year was named the 2004 Jack Nicklaus Award winner for the Division III National Player of the Year. Learning the ropes of professional golf can take some time, making travel and living arrangements, on top of competing with some of the best up and coming talent in the mini tour ranks. The NGA Hooters Tour is arguably the best mini tour around, and has been a stepping stone for many to the Nationwide and the PGA Tours.

Erb played a limited schedule in the fall of 2004, then worked hard in the off-season to prepare for a full schedule of events in 2004. During the 2005 season, Erb traveled around the southeastern US and also made trips to Tulsa, OK, Chicago, IL, and Green Bay, WI. From the second week in March to the first week in September, Trent played 20 events. Of the 20 events Erb competed in during the 2005 season, he made the cut in 9, posting a career best 19th place finish at the season ending Tour Championship.

Highlights from the 2005 season include firing a first round 71, good enough for 3rd place at the Fox Hills Lake Shore Classic in Green Bay. Erb rode the good score on a bad weather day to a 37th place finish. Later in August, at the Buffalo Run Casino Classic, he fired a season best 68 in the first round. A year ending scoring average of 73.11 led to a 92nd place finish on the money list exempting Erb for the entire 2006 NGA Hooters Tour season. The overall experience he gained this year can only give confidence to Erb as he looks forward to the 2006 season.

This winter Trent is calling Bradenton, FL home while he works at The Founders Golf Club in Sarasota. He plans to take advantage of the good weather to be able to practice and improve his game. The 2006 season begins mid-February in Central America at the Guatemala International Open. To follow Trent during the 2006 NGA Hooters Tour season, log onto www.ngatour.com.
