OU Women Finish Third at DePauw Small College
Classic
The Oglethorpe women's golf team continued their impressive run of
early-season success this weekend by recording a 3rd place finish
in the DePauw Small College Classic. The Petrels combined for a
two-day total of 656 to finish behind only DePauw and Otterbein in
the ten team field.
The Petrels were led by the strong, steady play of junior Julia
Gates who recorded a two-day total of 159 to finish seventh
overall amongst well over 50 competitors.
Katie Dale, a freshman from Peachtree City, Georgia, shot matching
81's for a two-day total of 162 and a tie for tenth place overall.
Right on Dale's heels was sophomore Paige McCollum in 14th place
with a two-day total of 164.
The Petrels strong efforts were rounded out by solid finishes from
both sophomore Carrie Shirah and freshman Tracsen Hinz. Shirah
battled to a 24th place finish while Hinz finished in 39th.
In three outings on the season, Oglethorpe has now recorded a win
and two third-place finishes. The women will look to continue
their string of impressive results when they travel to
Clarkesville, Georgia this weekend for the Apple Mountain Fall
Classic.
