The Oglethorpe men's golf team overcame wind, cold, and a very
difficult Pete Dye designed golf course to
win the Jack Shadwick Invitational in
Seneca, South Carolina.
Led by sophomores Taylor Urbanski and
Matt Suggett, Oglethorpe clung to a one
stroke lead over Campbellsville College at
the conclusion of play in round one. Going
out into the wind and rain on day two, the
Petrels kept their focus and fired a
team-low 300 to outpace the 18 team field
that included several ranked teams in
Division II, III, and the NAIA.
Though they narrowly lost a playoff to
determine individual medalist to Bobby
Gillespie of Huntingdon College, Suggett
and Urbanski wound up finishing second
and third respectively for the Petrels.
