Halfway Home: Petrels in 2nd Place at NCAA's
The Oglethorpe University men's golf team completed Round Two action at the 2008 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships and soared five spots into second place heading into Round Three action today.
The Petrels took advantage of playing on the more forgiving Chateau Elan Resort Course and posted a team score of 296 which was the second best round posted on the Resot Course all afternoon.
Oglethorpe will enter today's Round Three a scant six strokes behind St. John Fisher who shot a superb round of 294 on the tough Woodlands Course.
Oglethorpe University sophomore Scott Pugh carded a 3-over par 75 and is now tied for 6th overall in the individual standings.
The Petrels tee off early on Thursday morning along with the other tournament leaders. Check back later for Round Three results and Round Four tee times.
