Gates Wins, Petrels Take 2nd Place at Orchard Spring Invitational
Oglethorpe University senior Julia Gates won the individual honors at the 2008 Orchard Spring Invitational and the Stormy Petrel team combined to finish tied for 2nd in team competition.
Gates fired a brilliant 4-0ver 76 to win the individual medalist honors over Methodist's Jinko Suzuki by two strokes. Oglethorpe sophomore Katie Dale continued her steady rise on the golf scene by shooting an 83 to finish in a tie for 11th place overall as the Stormy Petrel team came up 20 strokes behind eventual tournament winner Young Harris Community College.
The Petrels will be back in action in two weeks time when they host the 2008 Jekyll Island Invitational.
