Men Claim Third Place at Jekyll Island Collegiate
The Oglethorpe University men's golf team captured a third place finish at this past weekend's Jekyll Island Collegiate held at Jekyll Island. The third place result was a solid showing in a field that included 27 teams with several of the Top-10 teams in the country in competition.
The No. 4 Petrels finished 10 strokes off the pace by tournament winner Huntingdon College and only one stroke behind second place Methodist. Ironically, Huntingdon is the No. 1 ranked team in the country, followed by Methodist at No. 2 so the weekend results supported the most current Nike/Golf World poll.

The Petrels were paced by the steady play of Scott Pugh who finished in fourth place individually after firing a 3-day total of 216 which was good for level par. Olaful Loftsson fired a 3-day 220 for 4-over in the tournament and a tied for 9th place finish. Matt Bernstein matched Loftsson's 3-day total and was one of four players tied for 9th.
Colin Chapman and David Dilibero each fired a 7-over 223 to finish in a tie for 18th place to round out the Stormy Petrels who posted top-20 performances.
