OU Men's Golf Team Posts 3rd Place Finish at Jekyll Island Invitational

The Oglethorpe University men's golf team recorded a third place finish at the 2008 Jekyll Island Invitational which concluded earlier this week. The Stormy Petrels wound up 28 strokes off the pace tournament winner Methodist University set and 13 strokes behind second place finisher, Huntingdon College.

Oglethorpe freshman Matthew Rebitch and senior Taylor Urbanski posted identical three-day scores of 8-over par 224 to finish in a tie for 13th place in a field that included 144 golfers from around the country.

Junior Hap Kaufold fired a 10-over 226 to finish in a tie for 23rd and freshman Dave Beazer posted a three-day total of 11-over 227 to finish tied for 27th. Sophomore Scott Pugh finished one stroke behind Beazer and in a tie for 32nd. Rounding out the participants for the Petrels was freshman David Dilibero who posted a 15-over 231 which was good for a 50th place tie.

All six Petrels competing in the event recorded top-50 finishes as Oglethorpe gears up to try and take the swords at Camp Lejeune next weekend.
