Oglethorpe Captures 5th Place at 2007 NCAA Division III Championships
Oglethorpe University recorded another top-five finish at the 2007 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships held in Fishers, Indiana and hosted by Anderson University. After battling the top 35 teams in the country for 4 consecutive days on 2 courses at Hawthorns Golf and Country Club, Oglethorpe claimed fifth place overall in the Championship.
Oglethorpe compiled a four-day team total of 1235 to secure the fifth place finish behind eventual tournament winner St. John’s University’s (Minnesota) team total of 1204. The Stormy Petrels were led by junior Taylor Urbanski of Loganville who earned First Team All-American honors by posting a fifth place finish individually.
The fifth place finish in NCAA Championship competition marks the school’s second-best outcome in a national tournament of any kind following last year's fourth place finish for the team in the same tournament.
