Guilford Reclaims GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll’s Top Spot.

Methodist drops to second.

NORMAN, Okla. — Guilford moved past Methodist to reclaim the top ranking in Division III men’s golf in the latest GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. Guilford - which picked up seven first-place votes - outpaced Methodist and its three first-place nods by a mere six points. Oglethorpe - which remained at number three - grabbed the last first-place tally.

Huntingdon jumped four rungs to fourth, followed by Otterbein, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Emory, Saint John’s (Minn.) and Nebraska Wesleyan. La Grange moved up a spot to close out the top 10.

Gustavus Adolphus kicked off the second 10 and is followed by Allegheny and Redlands - which fell all the way from number five. Skidmore flew up eight spots to 14th while Ohio Wesleyan checked in at 15. Greensboro, Rhodes, Texas Lutheran, Mary Hardin-Baylor and DePauw completed the top 20.

Central (Iowa) and St. John Fisher tied at No. 21 and are followed by Whitworth, Franklin and California Lutheran - which closed out this week’s poll.

Illinois Wesleyan and Rochester fell from the rankings.

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released in the spring.
