OU Women Place Fourth in Centre Fall Invitational

by Mallory PuschThe Oglethorpe women’s golf team keeps breaking records!
Oglethorpe placed fourth out of 10 teams in the Centre Fall Invitational, which
is their best finish ever. The team traveled to Danville, Ky., on Sunday, Sept.
12, to play against several strong teams.
The teams consisted of NAIA powerhouse Brescia, Union and NCAA division III
Transylvania, along with several others.
The top four team results follow:
Bresica - 320
Union - 344
Transylvania - 351
Oglethorpe - 363
Danville Country Club’s rough greens took a toll on OU golfers. However, they
were still able to come out on top. There were a total of 45 players with 10
teams. Individually, senior Heather March tied for 10th, freshmen duo Julia
Gates and Mallory Pusch both tied for 14th, sophomore Leigh Kite placed 22nd,
senior Megan Elliott placed 30th, freshman Jessi Bonham placed 31st and freshman
Trish Baldwin placed 36th.

Coach Owen is very pleased with the women’s results, and he knows that the
team will progress during the year and will break even more school records. The
team’s next tournament is Monday, Sept. 20, at the Renaissance Pine Isle Resort
in a dual match with rival Piedmont.
