Women Take Apple Mountain Classic

The Stormy Petrel Women’s Golf team continued to show why it is an up and coming women’s golf program. The team posted a school record of 314 at the Apple Mountain Fall Invitational at Piedmont College, which was good enough for a first-place finish in the eight-team field.
The Petrel team placed all five golf ers in the top 20, including three golfers in the top 10. The Stormy Petrel team was led by sophomore Paige McCollum (Toccoa, Ga.) who shot a 77. Junior Julia Gates (Kennesaw, Ga.) and freshman Katie Dale (Peachtree City, Ga.) both scored 78, rounding out the top 10 finishers. Carrie Shirah (So.; Trussville, Ala.) shot an 81 and freshman Trascen Hinz (Opelika, Ala.) shot an 86 to finish the Stormy Petrel scoring.
The first-place finish was the second of the season for the team. The women are in action again October 16th and 17th at Rhodes Collegiate Golf Classic in Tunica, Miss.
