Women Win the University of the South Fall Classic at Sewanee Golf Club

Sophomore Julia Gates won her first tournament with rounds of 85-87-172 to lead the Oglethorpe women’s team to their second consecutive tournament win. The Stormy Petrels fired an opening round 354 and built a thirty stroke lead after the first round.

The Petrels placed all five team members on the All Tournament Team. Mallory Pusch finished third at 87-92-179 followed by Paige McCollum 92-91-185 tied for 5th place. Freshmen Amanda Carpenter 90-95-185, and Carrie Shirah 94-91-185 tied for 6th place.

The Petrels shot 365 in the final round to win easily. The win moved the women’s team ranking to 31st in the nation, the highest rank in the school’s history.
