Men's Golf Wins Callaway Collegiate Classic

The 4th ranked Oglethorpe University men's golf team fired an opening round 293 to build an 8 stroke lead on the field and held on to win the Callaway Collegiate Classic in Pine Mountain, Georgia.

In winning the Callaway, the Petrels also managed to upend #1 ranked Huntingdon College and #3 ranked Methodist College to ensure a climb in the upcoming polls.

Both Huntingdon and Methodist proved game opponents for Oglethorpe as they fought back from the opening day 8 stroke deficet, yet could not pull inside of 2 strokes as the Petrels held on for the huge victory.

The Petrels were paced by the steady play of Tournament Medalist Taylor Urbanski who managed the tournament's only sub-par round on day one with a 70.

Freshman Joseph Lyda fired rounds of 72 and 75 for a 147 total and remarkable third place overall finish out of 92 entrants.

Senior Joe Green posted rounds of 74 - 75 placing him in a tie for fifth place while Johshua Kinsey went 76 - 76 for a two day total of 152 and a tie for 13th place.
