The two Trinity squads stepped on to Salamone Field today with a combined 23-1-2 record and their play on the pitch certainly supported the sparkling record.
 
The men's team was able to stay with the Tigers for a half, keeping it knotted 0-0, but Trinity broke through with three second half goals to earn the win. With the result, the Stormy Petrel men are now 6-9-2 on the season.
 
The women's team was overmatched by the Tigers and outshot on the afternoon 17-1 before falling by the final score of 8-0. For the season, the women hold a 5-9 overall record.
 
Both teams are back in action this Sunday afternoon when they square of with Southwestern. The men play at 12:00 p.m. followed by the women at 2:00 p.m.

The Stormy Petrels return all five starters to a team that won 16 games last season and the pollsters are taking notice of a squad that could be out for a banner year in 2009-2010. Among the returning starters for head coach Phil Ponder are All-SCAC First Team selection Todd Ward, All-SCAC Third Team selection Joe Kennedy and All-SCAC Honorable Mention selection David Allison. Add the returning services of swingmen Alex Richey and Wade Weldon, along with a bevy of talented recruits, and the Petrels will be off and running this season.

The men's football team from the '30s shocking wins over powerhouse Division I programs?

All nominations will be eligible for the Top 10 voting process which will begin in December. OU will begin announcing the winners, beginning with moment #10, every Thursday from February to April. The #1 moment will be announced at the Alumni Awards Banquet during Alumni Weekend 2009 hosted by the Alumni Office on April 16.

Oglethorpe topped the Bulldogs by claiming the final three sets of the match. The libne score was 17-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20.
 
The Petrels will finish regular season play when they face Wesleyan in Macon on Saturday. Oglethorpe hosts the Southern Colleghiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Championships on November 6 and 7.

Richmann graduated from Oglethorpe University in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in mathematics. She was awarded the Oglethorpe Cup for her many achievements on the Oglethorpe campus and, as a player, Richmann ranks in the top ten of six all-time statistical categories. She currently resides as the school’s all-time leader in blocks and finished her career second all-time in both field goal percentage and rebounding. Richmann played on a squad that won 96 games in four years, earned four trips to the NCAA Tournament including a run to the Final Four in 2008 and was the captain of the 2009 Southern Collegiate Athletic Confernce championship team in her senior year.

The Petrels got an early unassisted goal from Ben Robertson to take a 1-0 lead over the Lynx and made that score stand up until late in the second half. Rhodes, however, found the back of the net three times in the game's final twenty minutes to secure the 3-1 win.
 
Oglethorpe again struck first against Hendrix on Sunday as Aaron Walker took a feed from EJ Ovie-Ogodo to give the Stormy Petrels a 1-0 lead. The Warriors equalized just before the half and then took a 2-1 lead in the game's 64th minute. Ovie-Ogodo equalized for Oglethorpe on a penalty kick only moments later and the score remained tied throughout two overtime periods. Ovie-Ogodo did have a chance on another penalty kick in overtime but the Warriors keeper Adam Legg denied the bid.
 
After consecutive weekends on the road the Stormy Petrels (6-8-2) return home to host Trinity and Southwestern this coming weekend.
 
 

With the decisions the Stormy Petrels are now 5-8 in the 2009 season. After consecutive weekends on the road, Oglethorpe returns to Salamone Field this Friday for action against Trinity.

Oglethorpe struggled on a few particualr holes and posted uncommon big numbers to lead to the eighth place result. The Petrels were led by senior Scott Pugh who carded rounds of 76-70 for a 146 total that was good for a tie for 14th place.
 
Sophomore Craig Stevenson carded 148 for a tie for 25th place finish and junior Matt Rebitch posted a 151 to finish in a tie for 30th place. Sophomores Matt Bernstein (tie for 54th) and Michael Hicks (tied for 57th) rounded out the Petrels competing in the field.
 
The Royal Lakes Fall Classic concludes the fall season and Oglethorpe will be back in action this spring on February 29th when the Petrels compete in the prestigious Callaway Collegiate Classic in Pine Mountain, Georgia.

Dale fired successive rounds of 80-77 for two-day total of 157 to claim the medalist crown. She finished in a dead heat with Centre's Katie McKenna but no there was not a playoff between the two winners.
