Outlook

Recording the first winning record in six years, Coach Mike Hogan's first season as men's head coach of the Stormy Petrels was a success. Hogan is optimistic about continuing these winning ways this season.  Finishing last year with a record of 8 wins, 7 losses, and 1 tie, the team must fill some holes left through graduation of several seniors. Leading scorers Peter Conrady and Kurt Hansen will be sorely missed. Key to Oglethorpe's chances for success this season will be finding replacements for these scorers among returnees and new players. Leading players include senior Walt Schell (5 goals), junior Chip Baldwin (6 goals) and junior goalie Karl Hansen.  The schedule is tougher this year," stated Hogan, "but we should be able to record another winning season in '89,"

Head Coach Mike Hogan

Head coach Mike Hogan enters his second year at the helm of O.U.'s soccer program. He will also be coach of the women's team as it moves into intercollegiate soccer for the first time. Before coming to Oglethorpe, Hogan coached in the Atlanta Division I Men's Amateur ranks.  Hogan has risen through the coaching ranks of several area youth soccer programs and served as assistant coach for Georgia State University from 1984-86.

Hogan's playing experience is just as solid as his coaching resume. An outstanding player at
Briarcliff High School, he played collegiate soccer at Georgia State. He was a member of the Southeastern Invitational All-Star team in 1972, served as captain of the Panthers in 1973, and since has played with the Celtic Soccer Club and the Genesis Soccer Club. He and his wife Sharon Lee live in Atlanta with children Hillery, 6, and Matthew. 1.
