Oglethorpe’s Women’s Track & Field Team finished 10th while the Men’s Team tied for 15th in the 25-team rain-shortened Emory Classic Track & Field Invitational March 27th and 28th.  The teams managed to finish all the competition scheduled on Friday even though there was a constant down-pour throughout much of the afternoon.  The meet never got far on Saturday as each time events were to begin lightning forced the competitors and spectators to seek shelter.  After many attempts at re-starting, Emory Head Coach John Curtin finally declared the 2009 Emory Classic Track Meet “mercifully cancelled.”

Leading the women in scoring was junior Elizabeth Hale.  Hale cleared 5’1.25” in the high jump which earned her a tie for third and jumped 15’4” in the long jump for a fifth place finish.  Sophomore Courtney Craig was just nosed out of the scoring in the javelin.
