WELCOME TO OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY!
Hello ladies!
Welcome to the start of four great years at Oglethorpe University! We hope you are looking forward to taking the next step in your lives here at OU. We’d like to take this time to tell you all about an amazing opportunity – going through Oglethorpe Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment 2009.
Oglethorpe Greek life is a wonderful way to meet interesting women from all different backgrounds and who have many different interests – from both your freshmen class as well as upperclassmen. Even if you don’t think Greek Life is right for you, we encourage you to go through to meet people and find out what sororities are all about.
Oglethorpe Panhellenic Organization is a local chapter of the National Panhellenic Conference and consists of three national sororities:
Alpha Sigma Tau (A ∑ T), Chi Omega (
XΩ) and Sigma Sigma Sigma (∑ ∑ ∑).
In addition to meeting a lot of great people, sororities offer endless leadership opportunities. As a member, you can be a committee member, officer or coordinator of service projects, attend leadership and communication workshops, and learn to be a responsible leader and work well with others.
Oglethorpe sororities also place great emphasis on encouraging, developing and maintaining academic success. Each sorority offers study halls, time management workshops, tutors and good grades incentive programs. In addition, each sorority requires members to maintain a minimum G.P.A. to remain active.
As a member, you will also be able to participate in many philanthropies with your individual chapter and the Panhellenic Organization with many causes including as The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and the Make-a-Wish foundation.
Sorority members share a unique bond of sisterhood, which we consider to be a very close friendship. As a member, you will make close friendships that carry on throughout your lifetime. Sororities participate in social events to enhance our relations with each other and have fun.
This is a chance to be a part of something that you will cherish for the rest of your life. Not only will you make friends that you will carry with you, the leadership skills you will develop and the contacts you make with other Greeks at Oglethorpe and around the nation that could benefit you in many ways in the future.
We encourage you to join the Facebook group “Oglethorpe Panhellenic Organization” and learn more about us!
If you have any questions please contact Recruitment Director Rebekah Pound or President LaDonna Barnes or message us on Facebook.
