Atlanta native April Callen ’07 chose Oglethorpe because it
“was the perfect balance of the college experience within a
large city.”
This junior Communications and Rhetoric Studies major aspires
to a career in journalism, writing for a newspaper or magazine.
In addition to her studies, April writes for The Stormy Petrel,
Oglethorpe’s student newspaper, and exercises her people skills
everyday at Oglethorpe.
“You see the same people on such a regular basis that you
cannot help but to become good friends with everyone,” she said.
“It’s nice to recognize so many faces on campus and it is so
easy to meet new people. The overall environment of the campus
is open and welcoming, from the residence halls to the academic
quad. Because the campus is so small, you also develop a great
relationship with your professors, especially the ones within
your major.”
