Jennifer Cornelius ’09 came to Oglethorpe from Jackson,
Mississippi, because she valued a solid liberal arts education.
Interested in a legal or journalism career, she knew Atlanta was
a city that could help her attain either goal.
“There are so many things I’ve gotten to do being in
Atlanta,” Jennifer said. “As an English minor, I enjoyed having
a Pulitzer Prize author [United States Poet Laureate Ted Kooser]
speak at Oglethorpe.”
“I chose Oglethorpe because I loved its location, close-knit
environment and friendly professors and students,” she says.
“Being involved makes it easier to get to know people. Since I
arrived I have found my niche as a member of the Yamacraw
yearbook staff and Chaos, a hip-hop dance team. I am absolutely
loving my experience here at OU!”
Jennifer was also a student caller for the Oglethorpe Fund
this year, learning more about Oglethorpe through her
conversations with parents and alumni. She has also written a
few articles for the student newspaper through her journalism
class, covering the freshman experience and world topics, and
enjoys working in the community through campus service
organizations.
