Oglethorpe University knows Sean Freeman, captain of the
university dance team, can dance. As a semi-finalist on the
second season of Fox’s hit reality show “So You Think You Can
Dance?” the rest of America is about to find out too.
“I had a great time in Las Vegas and this whole experience
has been completely mind-blowing. It was a challenge to get all
my school work done while preparing for Las Vegas and then
making the trip, but all of my professors were very
understanding and supportive,” said Sean, a rising senior.
Hailing from Little Rock, Arkansas, Sean has been the captain
of the Oglethorpe University dance team Khayos for three years
and starred in Oglethorpe’s production of Beloved this spring.
“I would’ve never thought that I would have made it to the
top 50 out of 8,000 dancers across the United States seeing that
I’ve been dancing for only five years when most of the other
dancers have been doing it their whole life,” Sean said.
“I am completely happy with my accomplishment, and it has
only boosted my morale and spirit. This experience has taught me
nothing is out of my reach. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do
after graduation; now I know I want to be in the entertainment
industry,” Sean said.
Sean knew OU was “the best environment” for him when he
visited four years ago. Sean wanted “a small school in a big
atmosphere” and that is what he found in Oglethorpe and in
Atlanta. He is a communications and business administration
major with a political science minor and is a member of the Rich
Foundation Urban Leadership Program.
