Welcome to the website of the Oglethorpe University Chapter of Phi Eta Sigma.

Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society for freshmen. a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, Phi Eta Sigma was founded at the Univeristy of Illinois on March 22nd, 1923. Its goal is to encourage and reward high scholastic attainment among freshmen in institutions of higher learning. It is also the oldest and largest freshmen honors society, with more than three hundred chapters throughout the United States and more than 700,000 members.

Phi Eta Sigma was voted membership into the Association of College Honor Societies in 1937. Only three societies have had longer continuous membership.

This chapter was founded as the 279th chapter of the society by Dr. Ronald Carlsile on September 22nd, 1988.
