Scholarship
The purpose of college is to achieve an education, and Greek organizations are committed to fraternity and sorority values of academic achievement. Providing an atmosphere in which each member can achieve academic self-respect and self-responsibility is of utmost importance.
Every chapter has a specially designed scholarship program for its members. Those programs offer rewards for those who excel, but they also offer support for those who need to develop stronger study habits. The academic support that an individual can receive through the Greek community includes: established study sessions, leadership opportunities, incentives and rewards, scholarships, tutoring, and mentoring programs. Many chapters assist new members in developing good study habits and time management skills to make the adjustment to college easier.
Each Greek chapter has set their own standards, and a minimum GPA is required before joining. It is no surprise that studies on campuses across the country indicate that generally Greeks have higher grade point averages and graduate at a rate of nearly 20% higher than unaffiliated students.
