All residence halls are coed by suite. All of our residential facilities are smoke free.
North and Magbee Halls (View the
Floor Plan) North and Magbee Halls opened Fall 2005 and together
house 164 students. Connected by a glass atrium, the four-story
granite halls are built in Oglethorpe's unique Collegiate Gothic
architectural style. Each apartment-style suite features four
private bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchenette. Common facilities
for the North and Magbee Halls include laundry rooms, a
multimedia theater, a conference room with kitchen and a game room. North-Magbee is reserved for upperclassmen.
Phase II Residence Hall (View the Floor Plan) Opened in fall 2007, Phase II houses 148 students and features a traditional granite façade, matching Oglethorpe’s unique Collegiate Gothic style. Each suite includes four private bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and kitchen area. Common facilities include laundry rooms, a catering kitchen, game room and a conference room. Phase II is reserved for upperclassmen, although some freshmen may live on the first floor.
Upper Residence Hall Complex
Three three-story residence halls are situated among the upper quadrangle, which include Alumni, Jacobs, and Schmidt Halls. Constructed in 1968, these residence halls house both men and women and provide study areas, lounges, and space for residence life staff. All rooms on the first and second floors are suites with private entrances and baths. Currently, only Alumni Hall is avilable for upperclassmen.
Dempsey Hall

Dempsey Hall consists of four
floors with two and four person suites on each floor. The two-person
suite is a one bedroom double with an adjoining bathroom, while the
four-person suite features two bedrooms, a common room and a shared
bathroom. Vending machines are located on the first floor and each
floor has a small lounge area. The laundry room is located in the
basement. Dempsey Hall is a
smoke free facility. Dempsey Hall is reserved for freshmen.
Traer Hall

Traer Hall is adjacent to the academic quad and the Emerson Student
Center. This residence hall is a coed facility, reserved for
freshmen residents and is the most convenient to classes and the
student center. With rooms that all face a huge courtyard area,
Traer has three lounges and a laundry room. There are vending
machines, a television, and a public restroom in the 1st floor lounge. Smoking
is not permitted in the rooms in Traer.
Greek Row
Greek Row consists of six houses devoted to three sororities, Alpha Sigma Tau, Chi
Omega and Sigma Sigma Sigma, and three fraternities, Chi Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Kappa Sigma. Each house
features four bedrooms with shared bathroom and kitchen
facilities. The houses also have an expansive common area in the
basement and 1st floor laundry facilities. Residence in the Greek
houses is limited to students who are members of the Greek-letter
organizations listed on our
Greek Organizations page.
