Wednesday, March 12: Graduation Fair
12:30-6:30 p.m., Great Hall of Hearst
The Oglethorpe Bookstore hosts the annual Graduation Fair, providing an opportunity for graduation candidates to order personalized announcements, cap, gown and hood, a class ring and a variety of other Oglethorpe memorabilia. Come and enjoy the festivities and food along with it.
Wednesday, May 7: Carillon Ceremony and Spring Wing Fling on the Quad
5:00 p.m., Lupton Auditorium
The Carillon Ceremony honors the graduating seniors with an
opportunity to enter a "secret door" in Lupton Hall and climb to the
top of the Lupton Bell Tower. Facilitated by the Alumni Board,
seniors may sign a historical carillon registry book and have their
picture taken ringing a bell. No skirts and please wear tennis shoes. There will also be an
opportunity to sign yearbooks. The OU Young Alumni Club will host dinner - "Spring Wing Fling" - on the quad for seniors with wings, chicken tenders, chips, salsa, queso dip, a vegetarian option, beverages and fun for everyone - along with a taste of life as an alum. Registration will open in April; RSVP
by May 5. All seniors who attend this event will be given a Class of 2008 t-shirt, courtesy of
former Oglethorpe Trustee OK Sheffield '53.
Thursday, May 8: Commencement Rehearsal
5:45 p.m., Conant Performing Arts Center
Attendance is required. Essential graduation materials will be
distributed (including rain tickets) and class photographs will
be taken promptly at 6:00 p.m. Dress is business attire - men in
coat and tie and women in dress, skirt or slacks. Seven rain
tickets will be issued to each graduation
candidate, to be used for guests in the case of inclement weather and
an inside commencement ceremony.
Friday, May 9: President's Reception
4:30-6:30 p.m., Conant Performing Arts Center
Sponsored by President Schall, his wife, Betty Londergan and the
Alumni Association, this wine and cheese reception honors graduation
candidates, their families, and guests. Formal invitations will be
sent to the graduates' families. Oglethorpe faculty and staff are
also invited. This is a great opportunity for farewells and photos.
Registration will open in April; RSVP by May 5.
Saturday, May 10: Commencement
8:00 a.m. (report); 9:00-11:00 a.m. (ceremony), Academic Quadrangle
Graduation candidates in regalia must report by 8:00 a.m. on the
sidewalk between Hearst and Lupton Halls. There will be a "Help
Station" staffed by the Alumni Association to assist with regalia.
After the ceremony at about 11:00 a.m., faculty and staff will be
available to greet the graduates and their families. See "The Big

8:00 a.m.: Graduation candidates report to Schmidt Sport & Recreation
Center
9:00-11:00 a.m.: Ceremony in Dorough Field House
