Segovia is my favorite city I have seen thus far in Spain. Just walking down the streets makes you feel as if you have been transformed back in time. The buildings and architecture that surround the city give me the feeling of awe and enchantment. The tour led us through this city highlighting the most important aspects of its history.
The most impressive structure for me in Segovia was that of the Roman aqueducts. Just standing next to a structure that was built two millennia ago takes your breath away! The Catholic cathedral in Segovia was also amazing. This building was my first encounter with a building of this type. The artisanship that it took to construct this building is very impressive. The ceilings were covered in gold and silver. The history behind it makes it even more impressive.
After our tour, the group got the chance to eat at the Cándido Restaurant. This place is one of the most famous restaurants in all of Spain and is one of the favorite places to eat for the Spanish royal family. To think that we were able to enjoy the same Spanish dishes as the royal family is great.
In Segovia, I felt comfortable and safe. The locals were quick to help us with the language. In fact, I had the opportunity to mingle with some locals our age. Speaking with them gave me a renewed confidence in speaking Spanish. I wish we could have stayed longer.
