Oglethorpe University Singers Present Fall
Concert
Atlanta – The Oglethorpe University Singers and University
Chorale, under the direction of Dr. W. Irwin Ray, will present their
fall concert Friday, November 12 at 8 p.m. at the Miriam H. and John
A. Conant Performing Arts Center.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The concert will include a variety of choral music drawn from
madrigals, chansons, part-songs, motets, oratorio choruses, folk
songs and spirituals. Composers of the works include Franz Schubert,
Claudio Monteverdi, G.F. Handel, Benjamin Britten, Felix Mendelssohn
and others.
The concert will feature the piece “Auction Cries” which uses
sounds emulating an auction with texts drawn from auction
advertisements found in the Emporia (Kansas) Gazette.
