"Daddy's Dyin'" at Oglethorpe University
Atlanta – Members of Oglethorpe University’s chapter of
Alpha Psi Omega National Honorary Dramatics Fraternity will present
Del Shores’ “Daddy’s Dyin’ (Who’s Got the Will?)” November 18, 19
and 20 in Lupton Auditorium at 8 p.m.
Admission is $8.
“Daddy’s Dyin’” is the comedic story of the Turnover Family’s
attempt to deal with life and death. The action of the play takes
place in the living and dining rooms of the Turnover farmhouse,
one-half mile outside of Lowake (pronounced Lo-way-kee), Texas in
the summer of 1986.
Oglethorpe’s production of “Daddy’s Dyin’” is directed by senior
Adrienne Lerner of Fairhope, Ala. The production features sophomore
Kimberly Watkins of Canton as Sara Lee Turnover, senior Mandy McDow
of Knoxville, Tenn. as Lurlene Turnover, senior Jennifer Benoit of
Baton Rouge, La. as Mama Wheelis, junior Julie Greenwell of
Knoxville, Tenn. as Evalita Turnover and junior Nicole Dale of
Birmingham, Ala. as Marlene Turnover. The production also features
Oglethorpe University business professor Dean Tucker of Roswell as
Buford “Daddy” Turnover, Oglethorpe admission counselor Jerry
Portwood of Atlanta as Harmony Rhodes and assistant director of
public relations Randy Roberson of Dunwoody as Orville Turnover.
