Gray Assumes Interim Post
Atlanta – Diane Gray of Atlanta will assume the role of
vice president for advancement of Oglethorpe University on August
15, 2000 and will remain for one year. As vice president for
advancement, Gray will be responsible for development and
fundraising, alumni relations and the Oglethorpe University Museum
of Art. Gray replaces Robert J. Buccino, who became president of
Springfield College in Illinois (SCI) in Springfield, Ill. on August
1, 2000.
“I am looking forward to working with Diane and I am confident
that she will bring the leadership that we need to the advancement
area during this next year,” said President Large.
Gray graduated from Oglethorpe in 1977 with degrees in business
administration and economics and served as an officer on the board
of directors of the Oglethorpe University National Alumni
Association. She has served as senior education program manager for
The Coca-Cola Foundation and was responsible for corporate
contributions. She worked extensively with a variety of grant
programs, including programs at the University of Notre Dame, Yale
University and Duke University. She is currently completing a
master’s in philanthropy and development at Saint Mary’s University
of Minnesota. Most recently, she has served as global communications
manager for Coca-Cola 2000. In that role, she developed an overall
communications strategy, managed communications to the bottling
system and created the supplier program for reviewing Year 2000
readiness of its supply chain.
Oglethorpe University is an independent, highly selective,
coeducational, liberal arts institution located in Atlanta at 4484
Peachtree Road. Founded in 1835, Oglethorpe University is dedicated
to producing graduates who are broadly educated in the fundamental
fields of knowledge and the basic concepts and principles of their
disciplines. During the 1999-2000 academic year, Oglethorpe enrolled
1,230 students representing 32 states and international students
from 31 countries.
