Berlin Chamber Orchestra to Perform at
Oglethorpe
Atlanta – The Berlin Chamber Orchestra will perform at Oglethorpe University
on Monday, November 13 at 8 p.m. in the Conant Performing Arts Center. Admission
is $20.
One
of Berlins oldest ensembles, the Berlin Chamber Orchestra is recognized
for their innovative programming including traditional Vienna Classics
and covering everything from the Baroque to the Contemporary period. The
ensemble is comprised of German musicians and has toured almost every
continent, collaborating with some of the worlds most famous artists
such as Kurt Masur, Jeffrey Tate, Edith Mathis and Peter Schreier in addition
to receiving The Goethe Prize, a high honor from the city of Berlin.
Led
by Artistic Director and Violin Soloist Katrin Scholz, the Berlin Chamber
Orchestra will perform selections from Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart and Luigi Boccherini.
Oglethorpe
University is an independent, highly selective, coeducational, liberal
arts institution located in Atlanta at 4484 Peachtree Road. Founded in
1835, Oglethorpe University is dedicated to producing graduates who are
broadly educated in the fundamental fields of knowledge and the basic
concepts and principles of their disciplines. During the 1999-2000 academic
year, Oglethorpe enrolled 1,230 students representing 32 states and international
students from 31 countries.
