Trade Center Tragedy on 9/11/02
Soccer Game to be Played in Honor of Former Alumnus and
Cantor-Fitzgerald Employee, John Salamone
Atlanta – To mark the anniversary of September 11,
Oglethorpe University will hold a ceremony that morning in the
university's quadrangle. President Larry D. Large will make brief
remarks, followed by a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. and then the
ringing of bells from Oglethorpe's Lupton Hall. At 4 p.m.,
Oglethorpe University's soccer team takes on Emory University and
the game will be dedicated to John Salamone '86, an Oglethorpe
soccer-playing alumnus who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald and was
killed in the World Trade Center attack. A dedication ceremony will
take place with words once again from President Larry D. Large and a
moment of silence in memory of all who died.
