Oglethorpe University Playmakers Bring
Sophocles Classic to Life
Atlanta – The
Playmakers of Oglethorpe University will perform “Antigone” November
20 – 23. Fierce, captivating, and lyric, The Playmakers kick off the
Theatre Politic season with Jean Anouilh’s chilling 1944 adaptation
of the classic Greek tragedy. Anouilh’s “Antigone” pits Sophocles’
infamous heroine against a disturbingly familiar fascist power
structure. The result is a heart-stopping epic that entwines ancient
and modern ideas into an undeniably sharp, undeniably political
point-of-view.
Directed by Lee Knippenberg, performances are at 8 p.m. in the
Conant Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $7. For reservations,
