Oglethorpe University Soccer Hires Assistant Coach
ATLANTA – The Oglethorpe University Soccer program announces the
hiring of Ron Appollon as an Assistant Coach. "We are very excited
to bring Ron on board. He is one of the best goalkeeper coaches in
the country," said Head Coach Jon Akin, "He brings a wealth of
experience to our staff."
Appollon will continue to coach for Tophat Soccer Club, one of the
most respected clubs in the Southeast. Prior to Tophat, he was the
Director of Coaching for the Metro North Soccer Club’s Girls’ Team.
"Ron will mainly be responsible for training both the Men’s and
Women’s goalkeepers, though he will be involved with all aspects of
the program," said Akin. "I firmly believe that with the addition of
Assistant Coach Gilbert Jean-Baptiste and now Ron Appollon, we have
one of the best-rounded staffs in the entire nation."
The Oglethorpe Men’s Team opens the season on September 3rd at 7 pm
when they head off against Methodist College at Emory University.
The Women begin play against Huntingdon 3 pm on September 8th at
