Oglethorpe University Playmakers Feed Audiences in "The Dining
Room"
ATLANTA -- The Playmakers of Oglethorpe University will serve
audiences their first performance of the fall season with A.R.
Gurney’s serio-comic "The Dining Room."
Using the stereotypical upper-middle-class WASP family as a
blueprint, Gurney weaves together a myriad of diverse and dynamic
characters whose joys, sorrows and personal conflicts are played out
in a room we all recognize only too well -- the dining room.
"Gurney is a powerful writer, and this play is beautifully crafted,"
says director Lee Knippenberg. "I've been looking for an opportunity
to direct this piece for several years, so I’m very excited about
opening our season with it. The humor and the poignant moments are
so on-target. It’s a play in which, as an actor, I’d want to
perform."
