Oglethorpe University Singers and Chorale to Present Fall Concert

What: The Oglethorpe University Singers and University Chorale will present their Fall Concert, which will include a sampling of choral literature from the Renaissance through the 21st century.  Dr. W. Irwin Ray, director of musical activities at Oglethorpe, will conduct the concert; Oglethorpe artist-in-residence David Buice is pianist for the performance.

When and Where: Friday, Nov. 5, 8 p.m. at Conant Performing Arts Center

Featuring: Robert Rhein’s choral cycle on poems of A. E. Housman’s “A Shropshire Lad;” motets and choruses by Heinrich Schütz, Henry Purcell and Randall Thompson; selections by Pablo Casals, David Childs, Jacob Handl, Benjamin Britten and Felix Mendelssohn’s exquisite Herbstlied (Autumn Song); folk songs from Ireland and the United States; plus vocal and instrumental solos by members of the Singers and Chorale.
