The Institute of Mexico in Atlanta, Ga. informs that effective March 8th, 2004, Mrs. LUCILLA RUVALCABA is it the new Executive Director.  

Mrs. Ruvalcaba is a former member of the Mexican Foreign Service assigned at the Embassies of Mexico in Brazil, India, Senegal and the United States of America, and at the General Consulates in Dallas, Tex.; Washington, D.C. and Miami, Fl. 

The current Executive Director obtained her Bachelor’s of Arts from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and made studies on International Trade at the Koubek Center of the University of Miami.  She is also Translator and Interpreter in the languages Portuguese, French and Italian authorized by the Supreme Court Justice of Mexico. 

She has been invited by Universities, Colleges and several cultural institutions to give Lectures about different topics of the History and Culture of Mexico; personalities in the Mexican Arts, Cinema, and Poetry among other Latin-American subjects.

As writer, Mrs. Ruvalcaba has also published several articles in newspapers and magazines of Mexico City;  Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Ruvalcaba has experience in logistic coordination and has been responsible for the implementation of numerous events, macro-festivals, parades and all kind of social, sports and cultural programs.

MISSION STATEMENT

The INSTITUTE OF MEXICO, INC. en Atlanta, Georgia is a non-profit organization working throughout donations, grants and any other sources deemed acceptable by the Laws.

The objectives of the Institute are:

  • To enhance a deeper understanding of Mexico’s Culture and History;
  • To help the Atlanta and the surrounding communities learn and appreciate the Mexican traditions;
  • To teach young people of Mexican ancestry to feel pride of their Heritage and the Culture of their forefathers;
  • To celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the Atlanta residents and;
  • To preserve the ties of friendship between United States of America and México.

PROPOSITOS

El INSTITUTO DE MEXICO, INC  en Atlanta, Georgia es una organización no lucrativa cuyos objetivos son los siguientes:

  • Promover y difundir la Historia y Cultura de México;
  • Dar a conocer las tradiciones mexicanas a los residents de Atlanta y sus alrededores;
  • Motivar a la juventud de ascendencia mexicana a sentirse orgullosos de su herencia y de la cultura de sus ancestors;
  • Celebrar la riqueza multicultural de los residents de Atlanta y;
  • Preservar los lazos de amistad entre los Estados Unidos de America y México.
