ATLANTA -- Oglethorpe University's Music Department presents the
Lynne Arriale Jazz Trio in concert on Friday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m.
in the Conant Performing Arts Center. The Lynne Arriale Jazz Trio,
featuring Lynne Arriale on piano, Jay Anderson on bass, and Steve
Davis on drums, has toured the globe and reached the top of every
jazz chart of note. Their recording of "Come Together" celebrates
10 years of musical excellence that Jazz Times Magazine called
"stunning and impeccable." Audiences can expect to hear favorite
pop classics such as the Beatles' "Come Together" and "Iko Iko"
surprisingly reinvented, along with Arriale's highly compelling
originals, best known for their heartfelt, folkloric quality.
Grammy Award-winning jazz critic Bob Blumenthal describes the trio
as "one of the most empathetic threesomes in jazz."
The Arriale Trio is currently being featured in a Public
Broadcasting System television special, "Profile of a Performing
Artist." The trio’s 2005 performance schedule includes three
European tours, performances throughout Canada and the United
States, including the Kennedy Center, the Monterey Jazz Festival
and a concert with jazz legend Marion McPartland.
Tickets for the event are $10 general admission (Oglethorpe
faculty, staff and students are free.) and will only be available
at the door beginning at 7 p.m. on Feb. 18.
