Kelly Robinson Named Executive Director of Marketing and Public Relations

ATLANTA - Kelly Robinson has been named Executive Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Oglethorpe University, a highly selective liberal arts college. Robinson joins Oglethorpe with 15 years of advertising and public relations experience. Most recently she was Director of Communications at Atlanta College of Art, where she implemented a new brand identity for the institution.

“We are extremely pleased to have someone with Kelly’s experience to lead our marketing and public relations efforts,” said Peter Rooney, Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. “With her combination of corporate knowledge, higher education experience from Atlanta College of Art and her deep ties in the Atlanta community, I am confident she will help successfully raise Oglethorpe’s name recognition both locally and nationally.”

Robinson, an Atlanta native, is a graduate of The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, and is a member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). She is a member of Leadership Tampa, Class of 2000, and has served on the Atlanta Celebrates Photography committee for four years. Previously, Robinson worked with Hughes Advertising in Atlanta and Fahlgren Advertising in Tampa, managing a client list that includes the Atlanta History Center, the City of Charleston’s Department of Transportation, Palmas del Mar Resort in Puerto Rico, Premier Cruise Line and ValuJet Airlines. Robinson replaces Rebecca Whicker, who had been with Oglethorpe for four years.

“Oglethorpe’s genuine commitment to providing a superior education, its distinctive history in Georgia and the momentum for future growth make it an exciting place to be. Oglethorpe University brings me back to my roots of a classic liberal arts education, and I look forward to spreading the multilayered stories taking place on campus,” Robinson said.

Oglethorpe University, founded in 1835, has a total enrollment of 1,052. Its students represent 36 states and 21 countries. The average SAT score is 1200, and 43 percent of the freshmen graduated in the top ten percent of their high school classes. Oglethorpe University plays in the NCAA Division III Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Oglethorpe University is a member of the Annapolis Group, an organization of America’s most selective 100 liberal arts institutions, the only such institution in Georgia that is co-educational.
