ATLANTA - Marilyn Fowlé has been named vice president for
business and finance at Oglethorpe University. Oglethorpe is
Atlanta’s only highly selective coeducational liberal arts
college. Fowlé comes to Oglethorpe from Dakota State, where she
served as vice president for business and administrative
services.
“I have known Marilyn for several years, both professionally
and personally,” said Oglethorpe President Lawrence M. Schall.
“I recognize and appreciate the expertise and experience which
she will bring to us; but, more than that, I respect Marilyn as
a person and a leader. Marilyn is a woman of great integrity and
personal values and she will be a tremendous asset to our
community.”
As vice president, Fowlé will oversee the business office,
university contracts, human resources, campus safety, internet
technology, physical plant and the Oglethorpe bookstore. Fowlé
received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the
University of Houston-Clear Lake, her MBA from Rice and her
doctorate in higher education administration from the University
of Pennsylvania. She has previously worked at Texas A&M
University and the University of Houston.
“Oglethorpe is a really dynamic, up-and-coming university,”
said Fowlé. “After 25 years at public institutions, I am very
excited about this opportunity to serve a private university.”
Oglethorpe University, founded in 1835, is a member of the
Annapolis Group, an organization of America’s 100 most selective
liberal arts institutions, and the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference, a ten-member association dedicated to high academic
standards. Oglethorpe is accredited by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools.
