ATLANTA - This February, Oglethorpe
University presents United States Poet Laureate Ted Kooser in
his first official Atlanta appearance. Kooser, now in his second
term as Poet Laureate, was the recipient of the 2005 Pulitzer
Prize for Poetry for his book Delights and Shadows.
Sponsored by Oglethorpe University’s Core Curriculum Program
and the Office of the Provost, the event will be held Thursday,
February 9, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conant Performing Arts
Center on Oglethorpe’s campus (4484 Peachtree Road, Atlanta). A
book signing will follow the poetry reading, which is free and
open to the public.
Kooser, a former insurance company executive, is now a
visiting professor of English at the University of Nebraska –
Lincoln. He is an award-winning author of 11 full-length
collections of poetry and has received two fellowships from the
National Endowment for the Arts.
