ATLANTA - Omicron Delta Kappa celebrates
its 30th anniversary on the campus of Oglethorpe University in
Atlanta. The chapter will commemorate its milestone with a
reception during Oglethorpe’s Alumni Weekend on Saturday, April
1, from 6:00-7:15 p.m. in the Great Hall.
ODK alumni will mingle with current members during a wine and
cheese reception. Guest speaker Paul Hudson ’72 will share a
history of ODK leadership on Oglethorpe’s campus. This year ODK
will also receive the Organization Award for Service given by
the Oglethorpe University National Alumni Association.
“Oglethorpe’s chapter is officially named the Duchess Club
and Boar’s Head Society Circle of ODK and has been very active
since it started. We have several major events each year
including the Boar’s Head Ceremony,” said ODK member and biology
professor Dr. Daniel Schadler. A national leadership honors
society, ODK was founded in 1914 at Washington & Lee University
in Lexington, Virginia.
Located in Atlanta and founded in 1835, Oglethorpe enrolls
approximately 1,050 students representing 35 states and 26
countries. The university plays in the NCAA Division III
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Princeton
Review’s The Best 361 Colleges 2006 edition ranks Oglethorpe
in its prestigious list and also names it a Best Value College.
Oglethorpe University is Georgia’s only coeducational member of
the Annapolis Group, an organization of America’s most selective
100 liberal arts institutions.
