Oglethorpe University's Omicron Delta Kappa Turns 30

ATLANTA - Omicron Delta Kappa celebrates its 30th anniversary on the campus of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. The chapter will commemorate its milestone with a reception during Oglethorpe’s Alumni Weekend on Saturday, April 1, from 6:00-7:15 p.m. in the Great Hall.

ODK alumni will mingle with current members during a wine and cheese reception. Guest speaker Paul Hudson ’72 will share a history of ODK leadership on Oglethorpe’s campus. This year ODK will also receive the Organization Award for Service given by the Oglethorpe University National Alumni Association.

“Oglethorpe’s chapter is officially named the Duchess Club and Boar’s Head Society Circle of ODK and has been very active since it started. We have several major events each year including the Boar’s Head Ceremony,” said ODK member and biology professor Dr. Daniel Schadler. A national leadership honors society, ODK was founded in 1914 at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.

Located in Atlanta and founded in 1835, Oglethorpe enrolls approximately 1,050 students representing 35 states and 26 countries. The university plays in the NCAA Division III Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Princeton Review’s The Best 361 Colleges 2006 edition ranks Oglethorpe in its prestigious list and also names it a Best Value College. Oglethorpe University is Georgia’s only coeducational member of the Annapolis Group, an organization of America’s most selective 100 liberal arts institutions.
